I dont know what i need to get my pc to run like it should?

ok so i just downloaded avira anti virus protection and have no idea where it is on my pc? my pc is runnin slow locking up and im just so aggravated.......what the heck do i need to do to a 3 year old pc that runs like it is 50 years old?what is a registry cleaner? help me please. or do i just need to throw this thing out the window

There are three things that are easy to do:

First, go to start -%26gt; search and type in the name of the antivirus, when you find it create a shortcut to it and put the shortcut on your desktop, then run the antivirus

Second, download a program called Ccleaner and install it, make sure it creates a desktop shortcut in installation, after that run it and it will clean your registry and free up some extra hard drive space as well. On the topic of registry cleaning, you registry is the set of all commands that essentially tell Windows how to work. Every time you install a program it adds to the registry, sometimes when you uninstall the addition to the registry won't go away, also viri and trojans sometimes attack the registry, a reistry cleaner wipes all of that extra stuff out.

Third, go to start -%26gt; All Programs -%26gt; Accessories -%26gt; System Tools -%26gt; Disk Defragmenter. Tell it to defragment your hard drive after you have done at least one of the previous 2 options. I'd recommend doing this one right before you go to bed as it will take a while and you can't do anything on your computer while it's working.
