My computer is taking too long to open files, it recently warned me that my E disk has to be checked.?best antivirus software

Maybe it is a virus, malware or adware cropping up your system.

You'll have to get antivirus installed on your own personal computer regardless of the security of your company's network.

There are alot of ways viruses can be passed around other than thru the internet. Whoever told you that must've been an idiot.

Get Avast! http://www.avast.com/

If that fails you'll simply have to ask for tech help or perform a reinstallation of windows.
