your Credit card for an automatic renewal, when you asked them not too. I requested them (in writing) to disable my yearly protection and just got an email that they charged me for another year. Has anyone had this problem, and did calling their 877 number do any good?

surely that's illegal - its like stealing your money, on the bright side you should be able to contact your credit card company and explain the situation to them and they should reimburse you.
