Best Overall Anti-Virus?

I want an full protection. The best there is out there. I have currently tried avg internet suite which messed up my computer. The actuall program messed up the login process of my windows. I am on winxp and whiched to the windows 2000 classic login. It didn't work at all. It would always freeze before it even got to the ''windows is loading'' screen and show a black screen or it would go there and freeze showing that screen for a while. On several other random times I'd get to the account login screen and it would lock up there too. As well it wouldn't show a black or loading screen but it would show the blue basic background and not load anything. Back to the question. I am a gamer who needs full protection without the resource hogs. Avg worked perfectly untill the glitches, can anyone suggest a fix or a better/equal protection setup?

Which anti-virus+anti-spyware uses the least of windows resources with the most effective detection and...?auto protect

You should try eScan Internet Security Suite from MicroWorld as it uses the least resources. It uses a technology called MWL developed by them that scans the files before they are saved on your computer. Therefore when you open the file in any application it does not use any resources as the file has already being scanned. I am very satisfied with this product and use it both on my laptop and desktop at home.
AVG and Avast are the best know free virus programs.

Sometimes you can get Norton for free with their rebates, but I'm not a Norton fan.

Norton anti virus?

I keep having a Pop-up telling me that my protection is running out. I have paid out, using my flexi-friend, for the best protection that they offer (three days ago). However I keep having the same Pop-up, can any one solve my dilema, as it is becoming a nuisance as I don't know if I will still be protected. Yes, I have had confirmation of my subscription.

Norton anti virus?antispam

once it's totally expired then it won't protect your computer anymore like mines, mines been expired since december and i still haven't changed it and it's keep telling me to renew or reactivate it and i'm lazy to pay so i didnt, but it's best for you to just add some money into it to get the newest antivirus

Norton anti virus?avast

Contact Norton directly on their website. Or save yourself the trouble and money and go for Mcafee instead. Its better as it is. ;)

  • Which is the best anti virus lately?

i have tried more than 30 different antiviruses by now and there is some or the other fault in each of them i used nod32 , which is fast but doesnt give full protection , norton gives full protction but not fast enough , f-secure - is fast and gives full protectkion but is not compatible with my zone alarm firewall , and mcafee - i dont know they are may be searching for viruses in mars - it does not detect viruses , not safe enough. any recomendations wuld be appreciated . thank you

    swair

Which is the best anti virus lately?antispyware

    Try Kaspersky anti-virus.

Which is the best anti virus lately?best antivirus software

    AVG virus i highly recommend,coz

    1. it's free

    2. easy to update

    3. can scan better than many other anti-virus

    4. smallest cpu consumption taken

    5. compitable with many other security such as firewall, pop-up blocker, registry cleaner.

    hope this helps.
I say Norton is the best. The protect they provide is unmatched, its costly but deserves it. Also the support and updates that you get when you go for Norton are unmatched. I'd say go for it.

    Thanks

The one i'm using is Avast :) go to download.com and type avast... check out its rating .. by far it is teh best AV software ive used uptil now.. ive been using it for 2.5 years now .. andnorton is a source hog ....
啶傕啶侻cAfee Total Security is good one i am using McAfee for long time they are providing good solution for virus , spy ware , spam . i don't have the headache of security issue u just have to make inshore that it is updated from net
First off that Zone Alarm firewall is probably the best software firewall out there. Kudos! I would say that all you need is a free anti-virus program. AVG free version is great. It stopped a nasty drive-by download on my pc last year and the 7.5 version is just out.

If your modem/router is firewalled that is another great asset to your online security. Check the link below.
Well I love AVG Antivirus. It is free for personal use and is very good at detecting viruses, even in Internet Explorer temporary files. You can try it out at http://grisoft.com/doc/downloads-product...

Anti Virus, Spyware guard, and firewall question?

I have norton antivirus 2007, Zone Alarm basic, and spyware doctor. I normally run both norton and zone alarm together. would it be okay to also run spyware doctor with the on-guard protection? Or is that too much?

Anti Virus, Spyware guard, and firewall question?antivirus download

Run ONE program doing it all, otherwise things slow down. Try the 30 day trial of Pandasoftware.com. ~

Anti Virus, Spyware guard, and firewall question?bmw

It's fine to run all of those things but each one will slow down your computer and like drugs their combined effect may really make your machine run slowly. Personally I just run AVG for antivirus/firewall and that's all I need, but then again I'm more wary of viruses and spyware than the average joe.
get mcafee it does it all at once
Virus - is a program written to alter the way a computer operates, without the permission or knowledge of the user, it hides in other program files. It replicates itself and executes. To know more about how viruses attaches itself to computers and to learn how to combat them. Check out http://sumiram2006.googlepages.com/comba...
It would be okay provided you have adequate RAM.
You can run more than one antispyware program at a time without any problems.

    Fake virus protection???

After my second spyware attack on my computer I downloaded AVG anti spyware, Ad-Aware 2007, V3pro 2007, and Spybot S%26D but a icon keeps popping up saying I still have spyware is this a fake or is it real, or tell me how to disable it.

    Fake virus protection???antivirus downloads

virus protect pro is pretty nasty parasite and as it is quite new it might be difficult to delete. however you can try this virus protect pro removal: http://www.2-spyware.com/remove-viruspro...

i also think that your anti-spyware software should pick it up and remove it. update you security programs and try to run scans again.

    Fake virus protection???cafe racer

Avast has always worked for me and its free. avast.com Report It

I have run several spyware detectors, and had major issues with all.

I have a router (I have a high speed connection), and I have two software firewalls, one for anti virus, one anti hack, in addition to the firewalls my XP provides.

If I have reason to believe I have spyware I will use a free scan to isolate it, and then take it out on my own.

This has worked for me for many years.

It is never a good idea to run different firewalls that do the same task, they get in each others way.

Spyware, isn't people who want access to your credit cards so much as people who would like to sell you something you don't know you wan't.

    Anti Virus (AVG)?

I have just got rid of Nortan because it was slowing my computer down. I would like to know do you still get the same protection from phishers. if anyone can tell me the positive and/or negitives please

    Anti Virus (AVG)?antivirus programs

I see the AVG fanboys and cheerleaders are out in full force again here on Yahoo Answers!

    AVG Free is crap!

Mostly noobs, the naive, the computer illiterate, and children use AVG Free. These types love AVG because they say it is easy to use and almost never bothers them with any pop-ups or warnings. Of course AVG Free never bothers them, it hardly ever finds any virus to warn them about!

etc. etc. etc, ad nauseam, AVG free fares poorly.

AVG has proven itself to be a miserable performer at best. Missing almost 20%, while trying to detect known malware, in some tests. Not to mention almost non-existent heuristic detection and infrequent ''once-a day'' updates.
