Where can I find resources on how to set up a server for a school?

I am looking for firewall protection, content blocking, proxy server capabilities, anti-virus protection, and be able to route 20-30 computers through the server as a gateway to the internet. I would like to use LINUX as it is free.

I am looking for a web site that can point me in the right direction.

Look at the IPCop distro.

or check out the firewall distributions on Distrowatch.

IpCop can be a little tricky to get squid setup on though.

It may be better to go with something like Mandrake MNF, smoothwall or some other distro and put DansGuardian on it.

I forget what open source package does anti-virus scanning for email. Maybe DansGuardian with a clamAV plugin?

I'd say you definately want DansGuardian though which is a content blocker most commonly used with a squid proxy server. Almost any Linux distro has iptables or ipchains(older) as a packet filtering firewall included.
