I have AntiVir and AVAST and they conflict. I also have SpyBot and AdAware. I want to use ONLY ONE?

What is the best overall anti-spy, anti-virus protection? I'm just tired of messing around with running scans all the time. Just had a total crash when AVAST found avewin32.dll bad not I had to deactivate AntiVir... Frustrating to say the least.

You can't run two antivirus programmes as both have resident protection modules that will conflict. According to recent tests, Antivir is marginally better than Avast but I prefer Avast.One antivirus programme should be sufficient but if you want a second opinion, use Bitdefender 8 Free; it acts as an on-demand scanner and won't conflict with Avast or Antivir as resident protection is disabled.

Once installed, you will have an option to right click a file and scan it with Bitdefender; alternatively you can use the online scanner which installs an active x component.

I think it's wise to run more than one antispyware programme; Spybot and Adaware are both very good.You can also use Spywareblaster (a free programme that protects you from malicious sites) and Spyware guard (resident protection) alongside the two you have.
