I would guess that maybe the antivirus program you installed changed the settings in your Internet Options to block more sites. Go to Tools, Internet Options, then Security (I think). If you're in a restricted zone there then a lot of websites won't be able to come up.

Also you could try disabling the antivirus temporarily and visiting one of those sites and seeing if you can go to it then. It sounds like whatever antivirus you have may also be offering other services, and those services are cutting you short of being able to visit your favorite websites.
