Computer HELP?!?!?

I just recently bought my computer and it got screwd up when i signed up for netzero so they had to erase everything. Now i have comcast. My question is what steps do i need to take to protect my computer. What does a back do? How much should i back up the computer? I tryed to get anti virus protection but the computer says antoher instance of wizard is running. What does this mean?

hi i hope i can help you first anti virus software and back up your system is to different things if you want to back up your file i would burn the data to acd and like picture music etc thats how you back up file scoend as far as net zero and comcast there fine netzero is cheap but just remember you wont get what pay for now if i was you see if youcan call your cable company and see if they have high speed and sign up with them because they have tec support and if anyiswrong they can fix it for you .the best way to protect your computer shut down your computer at night dont download software you dont trust a good anti virus i would get is avg software and norton sercuity and run them every 7 day also refrag and delete files every month you can go to dell .com if you need help that what i use when need help look for support if your in school you really need to back yur work have a rewritable cd to do that rewrinables your able to ease to and add data but if you want to permently back up i would use cd r they are permenant and you cant erase i use cdr for music but or data i would cdrw its up to you most appication have a setup you can save it to your desk top and later burn the cd so you dont have to down load them later try it works
